Overview

I owned the design and evolution of Living Map’s B2B2C mapping platform and ecosystem, continuously optimising the information architecture and transitioning the company away from bespoke client builds to a repeatable, scaleable system. I managed the systematic transformation of the platform without stalling the business, successfully scaling the core product into a consistent, highly intuitive wayfinding experience across the entire client portfolio.

Impact

This strategic pivot shifted the company from an agency model to a scalable enterprise SaaS platform, compressing client deployment times from weeks down to days. By establishing deep alignment between engineering and design, I moved the organisation away from reactive, project-based delivery toward a proactive, system-driven mindset, building the scalable infrastructure the business needed to expand globally.

A complete graphic system was developed, typography supporting 12+ languages globally, a comprehensive set of standard icons was drawn for use at small sizes, and a templated global stylesheet system supports deep, rapid map branding.

Rich, detailed POI profiles give users everything they need to know at a glance.

Deep metadata structures power instant, efficient search results.

Seamless, turn-by-turn indoor routing.

Live transit updates integrated directly into the venue map for smarter travel planning.

Integrated 360-degree imagery provides users with real-world visual confirmation to help them effortlessly orient themselves within the venue.

Additional revenue channels were enabled with geofencing, displaying non-intrusive advertisements to users within pre-determined areas of the venue.

Addressing the unreliability of indoor and vertical navigation in venues without dedicated hardware, this AI-powered location system bypasses traditional phone sensors and beacons. By matching a user's real-time view against a curated image database, the system accurately determines their specific floor and location in a fraction of a second.
